Maharashtra CM swearing-in: Mumbai Police has issued a traffic advisory in view of the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and two Deputy Chief Ministers on Thursday, December 5 at 5.30 pm. Devendra Fadnavis will take oath as the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra at the iconic Azad Maidan in Mumbai along with two Deputy Chief Ministers.
Devendra Fadnavis was elected the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Legislative Party and staked claim to power. With this, the suspense that went on for almost two weeks over the formation of the government ended. Both outgoing Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Ajit Pawar are expected to take oath along with Devendra Fadnavis at the ceremony. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also attend the ceremony.
Mumbai Police issued advisory
Mumbai Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory to smoothen the traffic and reduce inconvenience to the people. This order will be effective from 12 noon on December 5 till the conclusion of the event.
Mumbai Traffic Police has said that there is no parking facility at Azad Maidan so citizens are asked to use public transport, especially trains and local services.
- Mahapalika Marg: Traffic will be restricted from CSMT Junction to Vasudev Balwant Phadke Chowk (Metro Junction). In such a situation, you can go via LT Marg and DN Road.
- Mahatma Gandhi Marg: Traffic will be restricted from Chafekar Bandhu Chowk (OCS Junction) to Vasudev Balwant Phadke Chowk (Metro Junction). You can go via LT Marg and DN Road.
- Hazarimal Somani Marg: Traffic will be restricted from Chafekar Bandhu Chowk (OCS Junction) to CSMT Junction. You can also use Hutatma Chowk, Kalaghoda’s Dubhash Marg, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg.
- Traffic will be restricted from Meghdoot Bridge (Princess Street Bridge), NS Road and Coastal Road to Shyamaldas Gandhi Junction. Commuters can use NS Road.
- Rambhau Salgaonkar Road: The portion of Rambhau Salgaonkar Road from Indu Clinic Junction (Syed Jamadar Chowk) to Volga Chowk will remain open from 12 noon to 8 pm.
Celebrations held outside BJP District Central Office
After Devendra Fadnavis’ name was approved for the post of Chief Minister of Maharashtra, a big celebration was held outside the BJP District Central Office in Thane. On this special occasion, the workers expressed their happiness by distributing laddus.
