A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra, where the Gram Sevak, who was giving knowledge of caution to the public, himself got trapped in the strong current of the flood. During this, his car was swept away in the water and he saved his life by hanging on a tree. After 4 hours of hard work, the district administration rescued the Gram Sevak. He was trying to cross the Kolpalli drain. Then suddenly the flood waves swept away his car.
Gram Sevak Umesh Dhodare, a resident of Gomni village of Mulchera taluka, was returning home at around 6 pm. Meanwhile, he got trapped in the sudden flood on the Kolpalli drain. During this, his four-wheeler was swept away in the strong current of water while crossing the drain. However, in the hour of crisis, he did not lose courage and caught hold of the branch of a nearby tree and managed himself. He hung from the same tree for about four hours and waited for help.
Rescue happened after 4 hours
As soon as the administration got this news, the revenue department, police and rescue team were immediately dispatched to the spot. The rescue operation continued despite heavy rain and darkness. After about four hours of hard work, Gram Sevak Dhodare was safely evacuated. He was taken to the nearest health center for primary health checkup, where he was sent home after the examination.

After this incident, District Collector Avishyant Panda has appealed to the citizens to avoid any kind of risk in case of heavy rain and flood. Take full caution before crossing drains, bridges and flowing waterways. Due to the promptness and efficient rescue of the district administration, a major accident was averted. The video of the rescue has also surfaced, in which the rescue team is seen saving the life of the Gram Sevak very cautiously.
