Maharashtra: Police took action under UAPA against two youths arrested in the mosque explosion in Beed district, sections 15, 16 and 18 of UAPA were imposed

Police have arrested two people in connection with the blast at a mosque in Beed district of Maharashtra. According to officials, the police have taken action against these people under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for terrorist activities.

Gelatin sticks exploded in a mosque in Ardh Masala village of Jiorai tehsil on March 30, ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. Two people were arrested after a dispute between two groups during the procession. Although no one was injured in the blast, the interior of the place was completely damaged.

Which sections were imposed?

Within a few hours of the blast, the police arrested local residents Vijay Ram Gavhane and Shriram Ashok Sagade, both aged 22 and 24. Beed police had initially registered a case under various sections of the BNS, including 298 (damaging or desecrating a place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class), 299 (deliberate and malicious act with intent to outrage religious feelings, concealing the insult) and 196 (promoting enmity between two communities).

Getting bail in UAPA case is difficult

All these were found to be true in the police investigation. The police have now applied BNS section 113 (terrorist act) and UAPA sections 15, 16 and 18 which deal with punishment and conspiracy for terrorist act. It is difficult to get bail under UAPA. The accused had also made a video before the blast.

Villagers got the building repaired

After this incident, the local people got the building repaired by installing new tiles. People celebrated Gudi Padwa festival, Ramzan and Eid together. After this incident, the pictures of goodwill among the people were positive. However, security forces remained vigilant to prevent any incident from happening.
