Protesting against a man blowing cigarette smoke on his face at a shop in Maharashtra’s Nagpur city cost a property dealer dearly as he was stabbed in the chest by the accused when he objected, police said on Monday.
Shop owner arrested
The incident took place in Yashodhara Nagar area on Sunday night, police said. The victim, Lalit Ganesh Mohadikar, is said to be in a critical condition. The shop owner has been arrested.
Intentionally blew cigarette smoke in face
The 36-year-old property dealer had gone to the paan shop of Syed Sabir (35) at around 10:30 pm, police said. A few people were already present at the shop and one of them intentionally blew cigarette smoke on Mohadikar’s face, leading to an altercation between them.
Attacked with sticks too
The matter quickly deteriorated after the altercation. The accused allegedly attacked Mohadikar with sticks, injuring him. According to police, when Mohadikar tried to flee on his motorcycle, they pushed him off the vehicle and then one of them stabbed him in the chest.
Condition critical
Mohadikar was rushed to the government Mayo Hospital, where his condition is said to be critical. Police said a case of attempt to murder has been registered at the Yashodhara Nagar police station and the shop owner Sabir has been arrested.
