Maharashtra News: Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena-UBT has recommended the name of MLA Bhaskar Jadhav for the Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. Uddhav Thackeray has written a letter to Speaker Rahul Narvekar proposing the name of Bhaskar Jadhav. Recently, when the Shiv Sena-UBT meeting was held, Aditya Thackeray’s name was also being discussed.
The decision on the Leader of Opposition is yet to be taken by the Mahavikas Aghadi. However, even before this, Shiv Sena-UBT has claimed this post. In such a situation, it is believed that the Congress will make its stand clear on April 5. Because its national level leaders are coming to Mumbai.
Uddhav Thackeray wrote in a letter to the Speaker, “I am recommending the name of Bhaskar Jadhav for the post of Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. Please accept the recommendation.”
On the issue of Leader of Opposition, Shiv Sena-UBT MLA Aditya Thackeray had said, “This is not an issue of post or a matter of dispute between us. We are going to raise public issues in the budget session, as far as the name is concerned, you will know in a few days.” Congress leader Amin Patel said that senior AICC leaders will be in Mumbai on March 5 and the party will decide its stand. The central leadership has already been informed about this issue and they will decide the party’s strategy.
10 percent figure is not mandatory – Shiv Sena-UBT
According to MVA sources, it is not written anywhere in the rules of the Assembly that 10 percent figure is necessary. This debate has started since no opposition party has got 10 percent seats. A Shiv Sena-UBT MLA said, “There is no such rule in writing. The ruling party will have to accept the name.”
