Mahuna Moitra: During the discussion on the Constitution in the Lok Sabha today, there was a lot of heated exchange of words. In this episode, when Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra raised questions on the death of Justice Loya, there was a lot of uproar in the House. Regarding the Constitution, Mahua Moitra started her speech in Parliament with Hilal Farid’s Nazm – ‘Mubarak Ghadi Hai..’
Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra also made several comments on the role of the judiciary during the discussion on the Constitution. Mahua Moitra also mentioned the statement of former CJI (DY Chandrachud) without naming him, in which the former Chief Justice had said about the Ram Mandir verdict that he had meditated on God before giving the verdict. Mahua Moitra said that we need judges who meditate on the Constitution and not those who meditate on God before giving the verdict.
Justice DY Chandrachud was also mentioned
During this discussion, Mahua Moitra raised the issue of Justice Loya’s death in the House. Mahua Moitra said that there are some people who do not bow down to the government. Justice Loya was also one such person who died much before his death. Mahua Moitra also mentioned the Chief Justice (DY Chandrachud) without naming him and said that there are judges who are happy by getting videography done with the God who has come to their house.
‘This is not the first time’
There was a lot of uproar in the House over Mahua Moitra’s statement. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey lodged an objection and said that the statements made by Mahua Moitra are objectionable. Nishikant Dubey said that an investigation has been done in the case of Justice Loya’s death and a senior judge of the Supreme Court himself has said that his death was not unnatural. On the incident of the Prime Minister visiting the house of former Chief Justice (Justice Chandrachud), Nishikant Dubey said that this is not the first time. Even before this, the Chief Justice and other judges have also visited the Prime Minister’s residence. In such a situation, if the Prime Minister went there, it is not right to make it an issue.
Kiren Rijiju also lodged objection
After Nishikant Dubey, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also lodged objection to this and said that whatever Mahua Moitra has said, she should either verify it in the House or strict action will be taken against her under parliamentary tradition.
Then Parliament was adjourned
Due to this statement of Mahua Moitra, the proceedings of the House were disrupted for about 45-50 minutes. When the proceedings started after 45-50 minutes, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that he will look into the matter and whatever objectionable things are there. They will be removed from the proceedings of the House. Along with this, the opposition also raised objection on Rijiju’s statement, on which the Lok Sabha speaker said that his statement will also be looked into and if there is anything objectionable in it, then it will also not be allowed to be a part of the proceedings of the House.
