Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is currently on a visit to India, he came to India on a three-day visit for the first time after becoming the Prime Minister in the year 2022, did he talk to the Malaysian PM about bringing Zakir Naik to India? This is the answer

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is considered close to Zakir Naik. However, on August 20, his government indicated that it could consider India’s request to hand over controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik. For this, India will have to present strong evidence against Zakir Naik. During a conversation at the Indian Council of World Affairs, Anwar Ibrahim also said that this issue should not stop the two countries from increasing bilateral relations.

Along with this, while answering an important question, he said that this issue was not raised by the Indian side during the talks held on Tuesday, August 20. Indian authorities are looking for Zakir Naik in connection with money laundering and inciting extremism through hate speeches. He left India in the year 2016 itself. The Islamic preacher was allowed to stay in Malaysia during the government of former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammad.

PM Modi had raised the issue

Along with this, Anwar Ibrahim also said that first of all this issue was not raised by the Indian side. PM Narendra Modi had raised this matter a few years ago. But the point is that I am not talking about an individual. I am talking about the spirit of extremism and a matter that suggests atrocities to a person, group, function or party.

Promoting bilateral cooperation

The Prime Minister of Malaysia said that his government is ready to present any kind of views and evidence. We will not ignore terrorism. We have been strict on this and we are working together with India on many of these issues against terrorism. But I do not think that this one matter can stop us from cooperating further and increasing our bilateral cooperation.

What did he say on Israel-Hamas war

Ibrahim also criticized Israel’s military actions in Gaza and called the overall situation a sheer hypocrisy of the West. He said that the atrocities committed by the Israeli army in Gaza are real, in which 40,000 people were killed. We should give a clear message that this hypocrisy should end. In response to a question, he said that this is shocking and I call it outright hypocrisy. This has been going on for a long time but it has to end. It does not matter whether the victims are Muslims or Christians or Hindus or Buddhists or anything else, they are humans and in this era, for us to say that I am sorry, nothing can be done. In a way, this is also an atrocity.
