Manipur: Fire broke out 100 metres from Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s residence; brought under control after hours of effort.

A massive fire broke out near the residence of Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Saturday evening. This fire broke out in a vacant house near the CM’s official residence in the capital Imphal. The cause of the fire is not yet known. Police said that this vacant house near the CM’s residence belongs to former Goa Chief Secretary Thangkhopao Kipgen. Former IAS officer Kipgen died on March 3, 2005. His family members used to live in the house.

Fire broke out at a distance of about 100 meters from CM’s residence

Also, police said that this house is located next to Kuki Inn Complex, which is in front of the Chief Minister’s residence in Babupara, Imphal. The distance of the former IAS officer’s house from the CM’s residence is about 100 meters. The incident of fire near the CM’s residence took place at around 5:30 pm on Saturday evening.

Causes of fire not known
As soon as the information about the fire near the CM’s residence was received, four fire brigade vehicles reached the spot. After several hours of hard work, the fire in the house was extinguished. Police is investigating the cause of the fire.

The first floor of the house burnt to ashes

The Superintendent of Police of Imphal West said that a fire broke out in a vacant house near Kuki Inn Old Lambulane in the capital Imphal on Saturday evening. Immediately teams of police and fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and the fire was extinguished. The first floor of the house was burnt due to the fire.

Investigation started in the case

The police said that the exact cause of the fire could not be ascertained. He said that a case has been registered to investigate other circumstances including short-circuit. The police said in the statement that efforts are on to arrest the culprits.
