AgustaWestland case: A big order has come from Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court regarding Christian Michel, who played the role of middleman in the alleged scam in the AgustaWestland helicopter purchase case. He got bail from the court, but he has refused to come out of jail on bail.
Michel told the court that he wants to stay in jail. Christian Michel has been in Tihar Jail for the last 6 years. There was a lot of discussion all around about the allegations of irregularities in the AgustaWestland helicopter purchase case, after which the investigation of this case was handed over to the CBI.
Michel told the judge that he does not want to come out of jail
When the hearing on the conditions related to Christian Michel’s bail started in the Rouse Avenue Court, the judge said that how can a person who has been in jail for 6 years present a local bailor in the court. After this, the special judge asked Michel about his well-being. The judge said, “How are you, by the grace of God, things have been good for you in the last 2 months, you have got bail in the CBI and ED cases.”
On this, Michel told the judge, “For me, Delhi is just a big prison. My family cannot come to meet you. Something has happened in AIIMS hospital in Delhi. I want to talk to you personally on this. My security is in danger. Christian Michel told the judge that he has got bail, but he does not want to come out of jail on bail.” Michel told the court that he wants to leave the country after completing his sentence.
The court fixed the bail conditions for Michel
The Rouse Avenue Court has fixed the bail conditions for Christian Michel James, accused in the AgustaWestland case. Michel has been granted bail by the Delhi High Court in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) case in the AgustaWestland case and by the Supreme Court in the CBI case.
The court said in its order that the accused has to furnish bail with a personal bond amount of Rs 5 lakh and a surety of the same amount.
The accused will submit his passport before the court.
Since the passport of the accused has already expired, he will have to immediately apply for renewal of the passport as per the rules of the British High Commission. In the meantime, if the British High Commission deems fit, it may issue him an emergency certificate at its sole discretion.
- The accused will have to attend the office of the CBI/Investigating Officer once every 15 days after his release.
- The accused will provide his mobile number/email ID to the Investigating Officer and the Court immediately after his release, on which he will always be available.
- The accused will state his place of residence in Delhi, where he will stay after release, and if he changes his address, he will inform the court and the Investigating Officer immediately.
- The accused will not tamper with the evidence.
- The accused will not try to contact or influence any witness.
- The accused will not talk to the media on any matter related to this case nor will he make any comment on this case on any platform till the trial is going on.
- If any further investigation is required or any cooperation is required during the trial, the accused will cooperate fully.
- The accused will not leave India without the permission of the court.
