Mizoram: Once again taking strict action against drug smugglers, Assam Rifles arrested 2 smugglers in a joint operation and recovered drugs worth more than Rs 9.83 crore.

Aizawl: Assam Rifles in separate joint operations arrested 2 drug smugglers in Mizoram and recovered narcotics worth more than Rs 9.83 crore from their possession. Officials said on Monday that smugglers had smuggled these narcotics from Myanmar. Assam Rifles sources said security forces along with other law enforcement agencies on Monday arrested a person from Aizawl and recovered 20,000 methamphetamine pills worth Rs 6.66 crore from his possession.

Recently a citizen of Myanmar was arrested
According to reports, in a separate joint operation, a drug smuggler was caught from Jokhavathar in Champhai district on Sunday night. Heroin worth Rs 3.17 crore was recovered from his possession. The seized drugs and arrested persons have been handed over to the police for further legal proceedings. Let us tell you that just a few days ago, a 49-year-old man from Myanmar was arrested on smuggling charges in Mizoram’s capital Aizawl. According to reports, heroin worth Rs 8.4 crore was seized from the man’s possession which was neatly hidden in soap boxes.

Assam Rifles is continuously taking action against smugglers
Earlier, heroin worth Rs 30.10 lakh was seized and a person arrested in Champai district of Mizoram. The Assam Rifles had then said that acting on a tip-off, it conducted an operation in Jote village near the India-Myanmar border in collaboration with the state police and seized 43 grams of heroin. At the same time, 325.3 grams of heroin was seized in Aizawl, whose value was Rs 2.27 crore. Along with this, 3 people were also arrested. Being close to the international border, smugglers consider this area suitable to carry out their activities.
