Mount Arafat (Saudi Arabia): Millions of Muslims from all over the world have reached Mecca in Saudi Arabia for Haj pilgrimage. There is a huge gathering of Muslims on the hills of Arafat. The distance of Mecca from Arafat is just 20 kilometers. Muslims from all over the world gathered on Saturday for a day-long prayer on the hill of Arafat in Saudi Arabia. The prayer performed on the hill of Arafat is considered the last stage of the Haj pilgrimage.
This hill is located about 20 kilometers south-east of Mecca. Thousands of pilgrims started moving towards the hill on foot in the early morning darkness. Hussein Mohammed, an Egyptian Haj pilgrim standing on the slope of the hill, said, “This is the best place for anyone who hopes to come here on this day and at this moment.”
Prophet Mohammed gave his sermon here
It is believed that 1,435 years ago, Prophet Mohammed gave his last sermon on this hill, in which he called for equality and unity among Muslims. Since then, every Muslim who comes here for Haj pilgrimage, prays here before going to Mecca. It is believed that without praying on this hill of Arafat, the Haj pilgrimage of any Muslim is considered incomplete. Saudi Arabian officials have expressed hope that this year the number of Haj pilgrims will be more than 20 lakhs, which will be around the number before the Covid-19 pandemic.
