Approval of the vaccine to treat the ampox virus means that GAVI Vaccine Alliance and UNICEF can buy it. But, its supply is limited because the manufacturer of this vaccine is the same. The WHO Director-General said that getting approval for the use of the vaccine to treat ampox is an important step in the fight against this disease.

Congo is the country most affected by ampox

After this permission from the WHO, now people aged 18 years or above can be given a two-dose vaccine. Officials of the Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention said last month that about 70 percent of the cases in Congo have been found in children under the age of 15. Congo is the country most affected by monkeypox.

Last month, the WHO declared monkeypox a public health emergency for the second time in view of the increasing scope of monkeypox in many parts of Africa. A person suffering from monkeypox virus has also been found in India. He is being treated at LNJP (Loknayak Jaiprakash Hospital).

The youth has returned from an infection-affected country.

LNJP Medical Director Suresh Kumar said on Thursday that the patient is being treated. His condition is improving. Monkeypox is a DNA virus. Its rashes usually appear on the palms, soles and skin. The patient’s condition is improving. Therefore, there is no need to panic.

Earlier, the Union Home Ministry had confirmed the case of monkeypox on Monday and said, the person infected with the virus is a young man who has recently returned from a monkeypox-affected country. He is undergoing treatment. His condition is stable. He has no other disease. This is an isolated case. 30 similar cases have been reported in India since July 2022.
