Earlier, during dust storm and rain in Ghatkopar area, a 100 feet long illegal hoarding fell on a petrol pump. In Wadala area too, the ‘metal parking tower’ under construction fell on the road during strong winds. According to BMC officials, this hoarding that fell in Ghatkopar was illegal. According to BMC officials, the size of the hoarding was 120 by 120 feet. He told that it is not allowed to put up hoardings of size more than 40 by 40 feet.
Mumbai Police registered the case
Mumbai Police has registered a case against the owner of ‘Ego Media’ and others after a hoarding collapsed at a petrol pump in Ghatkopar area and people died, an official said. Owner Bhavesh Bhinde and others have been booked under Indian Penal Code sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 338 (causing grievous hurt by endangering the life or personal safety of others) and 337 (causing hurt to another person by rash or negligent act) A case has been registered under.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the spot after the hoarding collapse incident in Ghatkopar late in the evening and ordered an audit of all the hoarding structures in Mumbai city. He announced an assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of those killed due to the falling of hoardings.
