Thane Drug Smuggling Case: The Anti Narcotics Cell of Thane, Mumbai has finally arrested Nilofer Sendole, wanted in the smuggling of MD drugs worth crores of rupees. Nilofer was absconding for the last 100 days. Investigation has revealed that Nilofer and her partner Rubina used to supply MD drugs through their workers in areas like Bandra Dargah Gali and MHADA Ground. This gang used to import large quantities of drugs from Gujarat and sell them in Kher area of Thane.
MD drugs worth Rs 2.5 crore recovered
In February, the Thane Anti Narcotics Cell had recovered MD drugs worth about Rs 2.5 crore from a room in Thane in a raid, which was said to be Nilofer’s. At that time Nilofer had absconded, but a member of her family and two other accused were arrested from Gujarat.
Since then, the search for Nilofer was on. She was constantly changing her hideouts. Recently, the police received information that Nilofer and Rubina were going to a room in Mumbai on a scooty. The police chased and caught Nilofer on the Vikhroli highway.
After the arrest, Nilofer was produced before Additional Sessions Judge Ganesh Pawar in Thane Sessions Court, where she was given two days of police custody. After appearing in court again on Friday, the court has sent her to magistrate custody till June 6.
During the court appearance, Rubina, her relatives, workers and some suspicious people had come to meet Nilofer. Nilofer appeared very confident in the court and it is believed that she is hoping to come out on bail soon.
Although Nilofer has been arrested, her partner Rubina is still running a drugs network in Bandra. In such a situation, there is a dire need for Bandra Police and Juhu’s Anti Terrorist Squad to keep an eye on these activities.
