NDA has declared Tamil Nadu’s CP Radhakrishnan as its Vice Presidential candidate, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and sought his support for NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate CP Radhakrishnan.

NDA has made Tamil Nadu’s CP Radhakrishnan its Vice Presidential candidate. After this, according to sources, it has come to light that Defense Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday evening and sought support for NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate CP Radhakrishnan.

The Vice Presidential election will be held on September 9. According to sources, this election will be held under the supervision of Rajnath Singh on behalf of NDA. He told that Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has been made the election agent.

BJP trying to make VP unopposed

NDA on Sunday announced the name of Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan for the Vice Presidential election. This announcement was made by BJP National President JP Nadda after the meeting of the party parliamentary board in Delhi. BJP President Nadda said that the party will contact the opposition to ensure consensus and unopposed election. JP Nadda said, we will also talk to the opposition. We should also get their support so that together we can ensure unopposed election for the post of Vice President.

Who is CP Radhakrishnan?

Radhakrishnan is currently serving as the 24th Governor of Maharashtra. Earlier, he served as the Governor of Jharkhand from February 2023 to July 2024. He also held the additional charge of Governor of Telangana and Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry between March and July 2024. Senior BJP leader Radhakrishnan was elected to the Lok Sabha twice from Coimbatore and has also been the state president of Tamil Nadu BJP before this.

Radhakrishnan joined the Jan Sangh at the age of 16. After this, he got involved in politics from college days. The presidential election will be held on September 9 and the counting of votes will also take place on the same day. The last date for filing nominations is August 21, while candidates can withdraw their nominations till August 25.

Dhankhar resigned
Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned on July 21, the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament, citing health reasons. After this, the post of Vice President fell vacant. After the post became vacant, elections are now being held again. Due to this, the NDA seems to be making efforts to ensure the victory of its candidate.
