KP Sharma Oli : There has been a coup once again in India’s neighboring country Nepal. Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has resigned from the post of Prime Minister after losing the trust vote. At the same time, KP Sharma Oli is going to form the government once again with his coalition partner Nepali Congress. Meanwhile, KP Sharma Oli, who is going to become the new Prime Minister, held discussions on Saturday to prepare a list of ministers to be included in the new coalition government. The new coalition government led by Oli is likely to be sworn in on Monday.

President Ramchandra Paudel can appoint Oli as the new Prime Minister of the Nepali Congress-CPN (UML) alliance by Sunday afternoon. Sources close to the Nepali Congress and UML said, ‘The President can administer the oath to the new Prime Minister and other members of the cabinet on Monday morning. A small cabinet is likely to be announced on Monday before the swearing-in ceremony begins.’

Oli submitted signatures of 165 members to form the government

Amid political turmoil in Nepal, Oli, the president of the Communist Party of Nepal-United Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML), is set to become the Prime Minister once again. Incumbent Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda failed to win a vote of confidence in Parliament on Friday.

Late on Friday night, Oli staked a claim to become the next Prime Minister with the support of Sher Bahadur Deuba-led party Nepali Congress (NC). Under Article 76-2 of the Constitution, signatures of 165 members of the House of Representatives were submitted to form the government. These MPs include 77 MPs from Oli’s party and 88 MPs from the Nepali Congress.

There will be a small cabinet in the beginning

A source close to Oli said that out of a total of 21 ministries, the Nepali Congress will get nine ministries and the CPN-UML will get eight ministries. Along with this, the post of Prime Minister will also be available. The source said, ‘Key posts like Home, Foreign, Finance and Energy will be divided between NC and UML. Nepali Congress is likely to get the Home Ministry, while the Finance Ministry may go to UML.

Earlier, on Saturday, the CPN-UML held a high-level meeting to discuss the future strategy and finalize the names of the ministers to be included in the new cabinet. However, according to senior party leader and Standing Committee member Rajan Bhattarai, there will be a small cabinet initially, which will be expanded later.
