New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday arrested an inspector and a sub-inspector posted at Burari police station in Delhi on charges of taking bribe. Officials said that the sub-inspector was arrested red-handed while taking Rs 10 lakh. It is being told that during interrogation it was revealed that he had taken this bribe on behalf of Inspector Sandeep Ahlawat. After arresting both the police officers, the CBI also searched their houses. Anyone who heard the name of an inspector in the Rs 1.5 crore bribe case was stunned.
SHO arrested while taking bribe in Punjab too
Officials said that Inspector Sandeep Ahlawat had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 1.5 crore. The agency arrested sub-inspector Bhupesh Kumar when he was taking a bribe of Rs 10 lakh on behalf of Ahlawat. He said that later Ahlawat was also arrested. Officials said that after the arrest, the CBI also searched the houses of both the accused. Let us tell you that a few days ago, during the campaign against corruption, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrested a police station in-charge and his colleague last Friday for taking a bribe of Rs 50,000.
SHO arrested on woman’s complaint
An official statement said that the Vigilance Bureau arrested Inspector Jatinder Kumar posted at Phagwara City Police Station in Kapurthala district and his colleague Jaskaran Singh alias Jassa red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 50,000. According to the statement, Kumar and Singh were arrested after a complaint by a woman living in Chachoki village near Phagwara. Both had repeatedly demanded bribe from a woman for removing the name of her family members from the case and other things, fed up with which the woman lodged a complaint against both.
