He said this in a conversation with Sanjeev Sanyal, a member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council, during the DU Literature Festival organized at Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC).

We are investigating it

Sanyal asked him about the issue of ‘USAID’ which has been in the headlines recently. Jaishankar said, “I think some information has been put forward by people of the Trump administration, and obviously it is worrying. This shows that there are activities that have a certain purpose to promote a discourse or point of view. He said, “As a government, we are investigating it, because such organizations have an obligation to give information. And, I believe the facts will come out.”

Goodwill activities were allowed
The Foreign Minister said, “I read, so and so person worked with USAID. Look, it is not a question of whether you worked with USAID or not, USAID was allowed. It has been working here historically. But, USAID was allowed to do good-faith activities.”

Some activities were malicious

He said, “Now there are indications from America that some activities were malicious. So this should definitely be looked into and if there is something like that then I believe that the country should know who are involved in malicious activities.”
