New Delhi: India is now developing hypersonic missiles. An official said that the army is going to add longer range rockets, cruise and ballistic missiles to its fleet. These include ballistic missiles like Nirbhay missile and Pralay with a range of 400 km and 2,000 km.
Long range missiles and rockets will be included in the army
Lieutenant General A Kumar, Director General of the Artillery Regiment of the Indian Army, said that the army is also focusing on long range rockets and in the coming time, it is being considered to increase the range of indigenous Pinaka rockets to 300 km. The official said that the Indian Army has got approval from the Defense Acquisition Council to acquire Pralay ballistic missile and Nirbhay missile.
DRDO is developing hypersonic missiles
Giving information about the missile program in a press conference, he said that the work of developing hypersonic missiles is going on from DRDO. Lieutenant General Kumar said that to boost precision firepower, we are procuring loiter munitions, swarm drones, runway independent RPAS and similar things. He said that we are also focusing on strengthening intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft.
Infrastructure is being modernized
He said that we have taken several steps to modernize our training and administrative infrastructure. Due emphasis is being laid on training on technology equipment to include Runway Independent RPAS, loiter munition and swarm drones. So far, a total of 19 women officers have been commissioned in the Artillery Regiment. He said that all these women officers have been posted in units with different equipment profiles and terrain conditions. We have full confidence in their capabilities and are sure that they will excel in their service career.
