New Delhi: People in the capital, Delhi, seem to be getting no respite from pollution. Every day, a haze of pollution blankets Delhi. Like every year, this year too, the pollution level in Delhi has reached the very poor category, offering no relief to Delhiites. A layer of pollution can be clearly seen in Delhi’s air. Delhi’s polluted air is extremely dangerous for women, the elderly, and especially children. The government is making numerous claims of controlling it, but all claims appear to be ineffective.
AQI of which areas?
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s average AQI at 7 am was 381, which falls in the ‘very poor’ category. A thick layer of fog engulfed many areas. Bawana recorded the highest AQI of 435 at 7 am, which falls in the ‘severe’ category. In contrast, NSIT Dwarka recorded the lowest AQI of 313. Anand Vihar’s air quality recorded an AQI of 429, falling into the “very poor” category. Chandni Chowk recorded an AQI of 390, RK Puram 397, ITO 384, Punjabi Bagh 411, Patparganj 401, Pusa 360, and Dwarka Sector 8 386. India Gate and Kartavya Path recorded an AQI of 388.
Difficult to breathe in Delhi
Currently, the Delhi government has implemented GRAP-3 in Delhi. Despite this, Delhi’s pollution levels are not decreasing. Doctors also recommend wearing an N95 mask whenever you step out. Doctors have advised avoiding early morning jogging and morning walks. Furthermore, the government has issued a work-from-home advisory. This step has been taken as a precautionary measure to help control the pollution situation.
