New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi leaves for Laos, PM Modi will attend the 21st ASEAN-India Summit and the 19th East Asia Summit.

PM Narendra Modi Laos Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a visit to Laos on 10 and 11 October. This visit is taking place on the special invitation of Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. Giving information, the Ministry of External Affairs has said that during this time PM Modi will also participate in the 21st ASEAN-India Summit and the 19th East Asia Summit. Laos is currently chairing ASEAN. Prime Minister Modi will participate in the ASEAN-India Summit for the 10th time. He will review the progress of relations between India and ASEAN along with other heads of government of ASEAN countries and will also decide the direction of mutual relations.

What did PM Modi say

While leaving for Laos, PM Modi posted on the social site X and said, ‘I am leaving for Lao PDR to participate in the 21st ASEAN-India and 19th East Asia Summit. This is a special year as we are completing a decade of our Act East policy, due to which our country has benefited a lot. During this visit, there will also be various bilateral meetings and talks with various world leaders.’

What is Act East Policy

The aim of the Act East Policy is to promote economic cooperation, cultural relations and develop strategic relations with the countries of the Indo-Pacific region through continuous contact at bilateral, regional and multilateral levels. This will provide better connectivity in a broad sense including political, economic, cultural and people-to-people relations.

S Jaishankar also visited

Before PM Modi’s visit, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also visited Laos in the month of July. Jaishankar reached the capital of Laos to attend ASEAN meetings. ASEAN has a total of ten members. Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia.
