New Delhi: The address of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s house will change from today. Bungalow number 5 in Lutyens Delhi will be his new address. Arvind Kejriwal will live in this bungalow with his family. This bungalow is near the headquarters of Aam Aadmi Party. This bungalow located at 5 Ferozshah Road was officially allotted to the party’s Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab Ashok Mittal. Earlier, Kejriwal was living in the CM House at 6 Flagstaff Road in Civil Lines, North Delhi.
Kejriwal will vacate the house at 6 Flagstaff Road
After getting bail from the Supreme Court in the excise case, he resigned from the post of CM. After this, this bungalow was allotted to the new CM Atishi. Therefore, Arvind Kejriwal had to vacate this bungalow. Kejriwal lived with his family including his wife, children and elderly parents in the residence located at 6 Flagstaff Road. BJP had criticized Kejriwal a lot for the renovation work in this bungalow. It was termed as “Sheesh Mahal” due to alleged irregularities in its renovation.
Was in jail for more than five months
After being released from Tihar Jail, Kejriwal surprised everyone by deciding to resign from the post of Chief Minister. He was lodged in Tihar Jail for more than five months in connection with the liquor scam. Announcing his decision to resign, he said that he would become the Chief Minister again only after getting a “certificate of honesty” from the public in the Delhi Assembly elections likely in February next year.
Sisodia left Mathura Road bungalow
On the other hand, former Deputy CM and Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia along with his family left the AB-17 bungalow on Mathura Road, which was earlier allotted to him as the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi. After Sisodia’s arrest in the excise policy case in March 2023, this bungalow was allotted to Delhi government minister and now Chief Minister Atishi. Atishi lives in her house in Kalkaji assembly constituency even after becoming the Chief Minister, while Sisodia and his family were living in the bungalow on Mathura Road. The new residence of Atishi, who has recently been provided ‘Z’ category security, is yet to be decided. Atishi can either retain the Mathura Road residence or move to the bungalow at 6, Flagstaff Road.
