Voting will be held on all seats on November 20 for the assembly elections in Maharashtra. In view of this, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday strongly rejected the allegations of the Congress in an election rally held in Thane city that the BJP is planning to change the Constitution.
What did he say on the amendment in the Constitution?
Gadkari said that the Congress had amended the Constitution during the Emergency in 1975, but now it is making false allegations that the BJP is trying to destroy the Constitution. Gadkari further said, “No government can change the main features of the Constitution. In fact, the Janata Party government after the Emergency had overturned those amendments.” The minister clarified that the BJP’s focus is on the protection and development of the Constitution, and the party is not taking any kind of anti-constitutional steps.
Give priority to development: BJP leader
Along with this, Gadkari reiterated his commitment to the development plans of the government. He said that in the context of rapid urbanization in the country, the creation of sustainable infrastructure is the priority of his government, so that the quality of life of the people can be improved. Gadkari appealed to the voters to rise above caste politics and give priority to development and elect representatives who work with a progressive approach. This statement came after Congress leaders accused the BJP of destroying the Constitution, especially in the context of the statements of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and other party leaders.
