Patna: Before the elections in Bihar, CM Nitish Kumar has made another big announcement. He has directed the formation of Bihar State Safai Karamchari Commission in the state. The work of this commission will be to review every scheme related to sanitation workers and get them implemented. CM Nitish Kumar gave this information on X. Big announcement for sanitation workers
Bihar CM Nitish Kumar wrote on the social media platform X, “I am happy to inform that to ensure the protection of the rights and interests of sanitation workers in the state of Bihar, welfare, rehabilitation, social upliftment, redressal of grievances and monitoring of various welfare schemes, I have directed the department to constitute the Bihar State Safai Karamchari Commission. This commission will give suggestions to the government regarding the interests of sanitation workers, protection of their rights and will review the welfare schemes related to the people engaged in sanitation work and take appropriate action to implement it.”
Who will be in the commission?
CM Nitish Kumar further wrote in his post, “The Bihar State Safai Karamchari Commission will have a chairman, a vice-chairman and five members, of which one will be a woman/transgender. This commission will play an important role in connecting the deprived sections of the society associated with cleaning work in the state to the mainstream and in their social and economic development.”
When will the Bihar elections be held?
The current term of the Bihar Legislative Assembly is ending on 22 November 2025. The election process has to be completed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) before this date. It is likely that the elections will be held in October or November 2025. The elections can be held in two or three phases. So far the Election Commission has not officially announced the dates. It is expected that the dates will be fixed keeping in mind festivals like Diwali and Chhath.
