Odisha: BJD vice president and Rajya Sabha MP Prasanna Acharya’s car collided with a truck in Sambalpur district of Odisha, resulting in serious injuries.

Prasanna Acharya Car Accident: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) vice president and Rajya Sabha MP Prasanna Acharya’s car collided with a truck in Sambalpur district of Odisha, causing serious injuries. Police said that this accident happened near Baladih in Raidakhol at around 1 am on Thursday (March 14).

Prasanna Acharya was going from Bhubaneswar to Sambalpur and during this time his car collided with a tanker carrying oxygen. Police said that Acharya and his personal security officer have been admitted to the hospital while his driver has suffered minor injuries.

Sambalpur Superintendent of Police Mukesh Bhamu said that the condition of both Acharya and his PSO is out of danger. He was brought to Bhubaneswar by plane for better treatment. Doctors said that Acharya suffered injuries on his head, nose, chin and other parts of the body. Meanwhile, the police have detained the truck driver for questioning.

Prasanna Acharya got 35 stitches

This accident happened near Beladihi in Redakhol area of Sambalpur. Acharya suffered external injuries, including on the head, and required 35 stitches on his forehead and nose. The collision between his car and the gas tanker took place on NH-55 Sambalpur-Redakhol road. Acharya was returning to Bargarh from a meeting at Naveen Niwas in Bhubaneswar when the accident occurred. Later Acharya was taken to Bhubaneswar by air.

Prasanna Acharya’s PSO told media persons that he was returning from Bhubaneswar to Bargarh when his vehicle collided with a truck. He was taken to the nearby Rairakhol CHC hospital and later transferred to a private hospital in Sambalpur.

Sambalpur Collector Akshay Sunil Aggarwal had said after the accident, “Former minister Prasanna Acharya became the victim of an accident late last night. He has been admitted to the hospital here. Doctors told me that his condition is stable now. I saw him myself, he (Acharya) also talked to me. According to his health condition, the doctor will tell whether he should be treated here or sent to Bhubaneswar. If necessary, they will be airlifted to Bhubaneswar and we are arranging air ambulance for this.”

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and many other leaders have wished for Acharya’s speedy recovery.
