Om Birla on Rahul: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday (26 March 2025) scolded Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for his conduct and behavior in the House. He asked Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi to behave in accordance with the rules and traditions of the House. The Lok Sabha Speaker said during Zero Hour, “Members of the House are expected to maintain the high standards of decorum and decency of the House. Many such incidents have come to my notice that the conduct of the members is not in accordance with the high traditions and standards of the House.”
‘Behave in the House according to the rules’
The Lok Sabha Speaker said, “Father-daughter, mother-daughter and husband-wife have been members in this House. In this context, the Leader of the Opposition is expected to behave in the House according to the rules under Rule 349. Birla said that especially in the House, the Leader of Opposition is expected to maintain (appropriate) conduct.” According to the report of news agency PTI, Rahul Gandhi was present in the House when Om Birla made this comment.
Amit Malviya shared the video and made the claim

Amit Malviya has claimed that this is why Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla taught Rahul Gandhi a lesson in etiquette.
Amit Malviya posted on X and said, “This is shameful It is that the Lok Sabha Speaker has to remind the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi of basic parliamentary etiquettes. Congress has imposed these on us, which is really unfortunate.” Congress MP Rahul Gandhi accused the Lok Sabha Speaker. Outside the Parliament, he said, “Whenever I stand up to put forth my point in the Lok Sabha, I am not allowed to speak. I do not know how the House is functioning.”
