One country-one election: Parliament formed a 39-member joint committee and gave the chairmanship of the committee to BJP MP PP Chaudhary, 12 members of Rajya Sabha were included, know how many members of which party are included

One Nation-One Election: On Friday, the Parliament has constituted a 39-member joint committee to consider the provisions and bill regarding ‘one country, one election’. The responsibility of chairing this committee has been given to former Union Minister and BJP MP PP Chaudhary. Let us tell you that with the proposal to nominate 12 members of this committee being approved by voice vote in the Rajya Sabha, the way for the formation of a 39-member committee has been cleared. Earlier, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal had proposed in the lower house to send the bill containing the provision of conducting Lok Sabha and Assembly elections together for consideration of the joint committee of Parliament, which has been approved by voice vote.

How many members of which party are included in the committee
Let us tell you that 27 members from the Lok Sabha have been nominated in this joint committee. Out of the 39 members of the committee, BJP has 16 MPs, Congress has 5 MPs, SP, TMC and DMK have 2 MPs each, while Shiv Sena, TDP, JDU, RLD, LJP (Ram Vilas), Jansena Party, Shiv Sena-UBT, NCP-(SP), CPI(M), AAP, BJD and YSRCP have 1 member each. NDA has a total of 22 members in the committee while the opposition alliance has 10 members. Let us tell you that BJD and YSRCP are not members of the ruling or opposition alliance. BJD has not yet clarified its stand on the issue of holding simultaneous elections, but YSRCP has supported this move.

Let us tell you that this committee formed to conduct simultaneous elections has been asked to submit the report by the first day of the last week of the upcoming budget session. These bills were introduced in the Lok Sabha on 17 December. From the Upper House, this committee includes BJP’s Ghanshyam Tiwari, Bhuneshwar Kalita, K Laxman, Kavita Patidar, Janata Dal United’s Sanjay Jha, Congress’ Randeep Singh Surjewala and Mukul Wasnik, TMC’s Saket Gokhale, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s P Wilson, Aam Aadmi Party’s Sanjay Singh, Biju Janata Dal’s Manas Ranjan Mangaraj and YSR Congress’ V Vijay Sai Reddy.

27 members of Lok Sabha in the committee
The 27 members from the Lok Sabha who were included in this committee include PP Choudhary, CM Ramesh, Bansuri Swaraj, Purushottam Rupala, Anurag Thakur, Vishnu Dayal Sharma, Bhartruhari Mahtab, Sambit Patra, Anil Baluni, Vishnu Dutt Sharma, Baijayant Panda and Sanjay Jaiswal from the Bharatiya Janata Party. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Manish Tiwari and Sukhdev Bhagat from the Congress have been made part of this committee. Dharmendra Yadav and Chhotelal from Samajwadi Party, Kalyan Banerjee from Trinamool Congress, T M Selvaganapati from DMK, Harish Balayogi from Telugu Desam Party, Anil Desai from Shiv Sena (Ubatha), Supriya Sule from Nationalist Congress Party (SP), Shrikant Shinde from Shiv Sena, Shambhavi from Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), K. Radhakrishnan of Communist Party of India (Marxist), Chandan Chauhan of Rashtriya Lok Dal and Balashouri Vallabhneni of Jan Sena Party have been included in this committee.
