Ottawa: Two people, including an Indian-origin businessman, were killed while another person was injured in a broad daylight firing in Canada’s Alberta province. Local media has given information about this incident. According to CBC News, a shooting occurred in a residential area in the Cavanagh area and officers responded to the information. “Emergency medical services responded and reported that a 49-year-old man and a 57-year-old man had died,” the report said. A 51-year-old man is seriously injured. Police said the 51-year-old man is currently hospitalized with wounds on his body. The post-mortem of the dead persons is to be conducted on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Indian killed in the firing has been identified as Buta Singh Gill, a construction company owner. He had a good influence in the Punjabi community. Former city councilor Mohinder Banga said at the scene that Gill was known for helping others. He said, “He left no stone unturned in helping people. He used to help even after bearing his own loss. Why would anyone harm them?”
