Pakistan Accident: A bus full of pilgrims fell into a deep gorge near a border town in Pakistan’s Sindh and Balochistan provinces, killing at least 17 people and injuring 38 others. Police gave this information on Thursday.

The pilgrims were on their way to the remote Muslim Sufi shrine Shah Noorani in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district when their bus fell into a ditch in Hub town on Wednesday. The place where the accident occurred is about 100 kilometers away from Karachi.

Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed condolences over the incident and said that it seems the driver lost control at a turn due to which the bus fell into a ditch. All the passengers were residents of Thatta city of Sindh province.

Naqvi said, “The vehicle left Thatta around 2 pm on Wednesday and met with an accident around 8 pm on Wednesday night.”

A local police officer in the hub said the dead and injured were taken to Karachi Civil Hospital. The bodies were identified, some of which belonged to the same family. Bad roads, lack of safety awareness and blatant disregard for traffic rules often lead to fatal accidents in Pakistan.

Many fatal accidents occur in Pakistan due to low safety measures, poor driver training as well as poor transportation infrastructure. A similar big accident happened in January 2023 also. 41 people had died in that.
