Bushra Bibi, wife of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, has achieved a major legal victory. Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi has got anticipatory bail in a corruption case by a special accountability court in Rawalpindi today. Imran Khan and other accused, including Bushra Bibi, are accused of causing a loss of about Rs 50 billion to the country’s treasury in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case.
Judge Mohammad Ali Waraich heard the case in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, where both Khan and Bushra Bibi are lodged in another case. However, despite getting bail, 49-year-old Bushra will remain in jail due to her conviction in the illegal marriage case.
What is the Al Qadir Trust case?
Al Qadir Trust is actually a university case. It was established in Sohawa, Jhelum in the year 2021. The project was formed by Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi and their close aides Zulfiqar Bukhari and Babar Awan. The purpose of setting up this university was to provide good education in Sohawa. This university of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, established in 2021, has not yet been recognized by the government. In the case, Imran and his wife are accused of grabbing land worth billions of rupees for the university by threatening Pakistan’s richest man Malik Riaz. This institute was registered as a trust but fees were charged from the students here.

Bushra Bibi’s ex-husband Khawar Maneka had filed a case of illegal marriage against Bushra Bibi and Imran Khan. Khawar Maneka had alleged that they got married without following the mandatory waiting period of Iddat by Bibi. Khawar had demanded the court to declare the marriage invalid.
