Peshawar: Some unidentified gunmen kidnapped at least 4 workers on Saturday in Pakistan’s troubled Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. According to information given by a senior police officer, the incident took place in Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province when the workers were busy repairing an electricity tower. District Police Officer Abdus Salam Khalid said, ‘Some unidentified armed gunmen kidnapped 13 workers from the troubled district of north-west Pakistan on Saturday, although later they released 9 and took 4 with them.’
Efforts are being made to release the workers
The police officer said that they are making every effort to release the workers. Tank is the most sensitive district of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province where terrorists and militants are active against security forces, police and government officials. According to reports, all these workers were working for a private company and were repairing the pillars of the 132 KV transmission line in a village named Tatoor. Till the time of writing the news, the gunmen had not made any demand regarding the release of the workers. It is also not known why they released 9 workers.
A judge was also kidnapped in April
Let us tell you that such incidents happen often in this area. In April this year, gunmen kidnapped Shakir Ullah Marwat, a session judge of South Waziristan Court. He was released after the intervention of the local jirga. The judge had said that he was kidnapped by people of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. Tehreek-e-Taliban has once again become active in Pakistan for the last few months and has carried out many incidents one after the other.
