San Francisco (USA): Passengers on an American Airlines flight were left breathless when a person’s laptop suddenly started emitting smoke. There was a panic due to the fear that the laptop might explode like a bomb. The airline and airport staff were immediately informed about this. It is being told that smoke started coming out of a laptop kept in a passenger’s bag on an American Airlines flight. This spread panic among the passengers. Soon the plane was filled with smoke. Many passengers started sneezing and coughing. Passengers were scared fearing that the laptop might be a bomb. Everyone wanted to jump off the plane to save their lives. In such a situation, the airport authority evacuated the plane. The airline said that one person suffered minor injuries while getting out of the plane, after which he was taken to the hospital.
Passengers were evacuated through emergency exits
The airport officials showed immediate alertness in view of safety and started evacuating the passengers through emergency ‘slides’ and ‘jet bridges’. Gradually all the passengers were evacuated safely. According to the San Francisco Fire Department, two more passengers also suffered minor injuries. The airline said that when the passengers were boarding the plane, the crew noticed smoke coming out of the laptop. Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Steve Kulm said that the agency would investigate the matter.
