Despite the resolution of the affidavit and Senate-Syndicate disputes at Panjab University, protests continue. The atmosphere turned tense on Sunday, with students shouting slogans against the Chandigarh Police. Panjab University recently withdrew its decision to file an affidavit, and the central government announced the revocation of the notification dissolving the Senate-Syndicate.
However, all 91 members of the Student Senate are now demanding the announcement of election dates. This has led to a growing movement. Students have now begun protesting, gathering at the university gate. In response to the student protests, Panjab University Chancellor Professor Renu Wig stated that PU has initiated the Senate election process in accordance with the Ministry of Education’s notification of November 7th. Meanwhile, a student leader stated that they have already stated that their protest will continue until the Senate election date is announced. It is reported that students will hold a sit-in protest tomorrow, Monday, at Panjab University, demanding the dissolution of the Senate.

Announcement of a two-day holiday
In anticipation of the student protest scheduled for November 10th, Punjab University has declared holidays on November 10th and 11th. No classes will be held for students on these days.
Political leaders are offering support
Meanwhile, Congress MP from Fatehgarh Sahib, Amar Singh, who visited the university, said that the central government has deliberately raised the issue of Punjab University to suppress the main issues facing Punjab. The notification being withdrawn now is being done so only to prevent the youth from rising up. If the younger generation awakens, a coup will occur. I appeal to everyone not to raise this issue here; this struggle must be intensified. Sufi singer Satinder Sartaaj reached the ongoing protest at PU, where he sang and assured the protesting students that he was with them.
