Pappu Yadav had arrived in Patna on Friday night, and shortly after reaching his home, police officers arrived and arrested him. There was considerable commotion in Patna during this time. Pappu Yadav said he would not go with the police and would go directly to court on Saturday. However, the police officers insisted on arresting him. During this time, Pappu Yadav also suggested being placed under house arrest, but the police did not agree. This led to a major disturbance in Patna.

Pappu Yadav’s supporters climbed onto police vehicles and chanted slogans. The police stated that Pappu Yadav was arrested late at night and taken to IGIMS (Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences) for a medical examination. Due to the unavailability of beds at IGIMS hospital, he was shifted to the doctors’ rest room.

The Patna police arrested independent MP Pappu Yadav late Friday night in a 31-year-old case. In 1995, Vinod Bihari Lal filed a complaint at the Gardanibagh police station in Patna. He alleged that his house was fraudulently rented out. At the time of renting, it was stated that people would reside there, but later it was converted into the MP’s office. The landlord later learned that his house was being used to run the MP’s office. This fact was concealed at the time of renting the property.

Before his arrest, Pappu Yadav said, “I have returned after attending the Parliament session. I am aware of the court summons and I will appear tomorrow. But some police officers in plain clothes have come and they are misbehaving.” He claimed that he was being targeted because he was criticizing the state government, especially regarding the recent death of a NEET aspirant, the investigation of which has been handed over to the CBI.

What did the police say?
Police sources said that after his arrest, Pappu Yadav was taken to Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) for a medical examination. He was arrested from his residence in Patna. Late at night, a major commotion erupted at the residence of Purnea MP Pappu Yadav in the Mandiri area of ​​the city. A police team had arrived to arrest him, but he asked them to leave, assuring them that he would appear in court on Saturday. However, the police proceeded with the arrest. Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya Sharma had stated, “The MP/MLA court had issued a warrant for Yadav’s arrest for failing to appear in a 1995 case. Therefore, we sent a team to bring him before the court.”
