PM Modi expressed grief after the death of Pope Francis, announced three days of state mourning in India, issued order

Pope Francis, the greatest religious leader of Christians, died on Monday morning. After this, a wave of mourning ran across the world. In India too, politicians reacted and expressed grief over the death of Pope Francis. At the same time, now the government has announced three days of state mourning after the death of Pope Francis. The national flag of India will be kept at half-mast till these three days. Apart from this, no official entertainment program will be organized. The Union Home Ministry has issued an order in this regard.

The national flag will remain half-mast

In fact, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has announced three days of state mourning on the death of Pope Francis as a mark of respect to him. Pope Francis died today on Monday morning. In such a situation, as a mark of respect to him, three days of state mourning will be observed across India. During this, there will be two days of state mourning on Tuesday, 22 April and Wednesday 23 April. At the same time, there will also be an additional one-day state mourning on the day of Pope Francis’ funeral. During the period of state mourning, the national flag will remain half-mast on all those buildings across India, where the national flag is hoisted regularly. Apart from this, there will be no official entertainment program.

PM Modi said, “I am deeply saddened by the demise of His Holiness Pope Francis. In this hour of grief and remembrance, my heartfelt condolences to the global Catholic community. I remember my meetings with him and was deeply inspired by his commitment to inclusive and all-round development. His affection towards the people of India will always be cherished. May his soul rest in peace in the lap of God.”
