Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday left for the Russian city of Kazan to attend the 16th BRICS summit. This is PM Modi’s two-day (22-23 October) visit to Russia. Where he will attend the 16th BRICS summit to be held in the city of Kazan under the chairmanship of Russia. During his visit, Prime Minister Modi is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts and invited leaders of BRICS member countries in Kazan.

PM Modi will be in Russia on 22-23 October. The Ministry of External Affairs is working on a bilateral meeting between PM Modi and Chinese President Jinping. Sharing the details of the BRICS summit, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that the founding members as well as new members will participate in this program. The summit will begin on October 22 and there will be a dinner for the leaders in the evening on the first day.
The main day of the summit is October 23 (Wednesday). There will be two main sessions on this day. There will be a close completion session in the morning and then an open completion session in the afternoon. Which will discuss the main topic of the 16th BRICS summit.
New initiative with China to resolve border dispute
A consensus has been reached between India and China before the BRICS summit. A new initiative has been taken to resolve the border dispute going on since the year 2020. The border tension between India and China in eastern Ladakh for 52 months has been resolved. After the exercise at the military and diplomatic level between the two countries, there has been an agreement on patrolling and reducing military tension on the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Announcing this decision, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that since the incidents on the Line of Actual Control in 2020, we were in constant touch with the Chinese side at the military and diplomatic level. Several rounds of talks have taken place between the two countries at the WMCC and military commander level.

This will be the first summit of BRICS after the expansion last year. The BRICS group includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa since 2010. Now Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) have also joined it.
