Prime Minister Narendra Modi will present several major gifts to Assam today. He will inaugurate the Northeast’s first emergency landing facility on the Dibrugarh National Highway. PM Modi himself will also land on this highway. Along with the inauguration of a bridge, PM Modi will also launch projects worth over ₹5,450 crore.
PM Modi’s plane will land on NH-37
Providing more details about today’s visit, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the Indian Air Force (IAF) C-130 aircraft carrying Prime Minister Narendra Modi will land on Saturday at the Moran Emergency Landing Facility (ELF), located on a section of National Highway 37 (NH-37) in Assam’s Dibrugarh district.
A New Chapter in Connectivity and Strategic Strength
CM Sarma wrote on the social media platform X, “The Moran Emergency Landing Facility will be inaugurated by PM Modi on February 14th. From testing to successful operation, a new chapter in connectivity and strategic strength is taking shape.”
Aircraft will be able to operate if needed in the future.
The Chief Minister credited Prime Minister Modi for strengthening the country’s defense preparedness and building infrastructure to meet any eventuality. He said, “Thanks to the Moran ELF missile system, Indian Air Force aircraft will be able to operate if needed, and Assam is pleased to contribute to this strategic vision.”
Air Display by Approximately 16 Aircraft
Today, PM Modi will witness an aerial display by approximately 16 Indian Air Force aircraft, including fighter jets, transport aircraft, and helicopters. Some aircraft are expected to either land or perform a fly-past on the highway airstrip.
Airstrip Constructed on a 4.2-Kilometer-Long Area
A 4.2-kilometer-long reinforced concrete section on the Dibrugarh-Moran section of National Highway 127 has been developed as a dual-use airstrip (ELF) in coordination with the Indian Air Force. This highway airstrip is the first of its kind in the Northeast, capable of handling fighter jets, transport aircraft, and helicopters during emergencies and strategic contingencies.
Launch of projects worth over ₹5,450 crore
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will also launch and inaugurate projects worth over ₹5,450 crore in Assam. After the Moran event, he will travel to Guwahati, where he will inspect the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu over the Brahmaputra River.
Flag off 225 electric buses
Inaugurate the National Data Center for the North-Eastern Region in Amingaon. Inaugurate IIM Guwahati and flag off 225 electric buses under the PM-eBus Seva scheme. He will then return to New Delhi.
