Journalist Prashant Koratkar Arrested: Journalist Prashant Koratkar has been arrested for making derogatory remarks about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Giving information, the police said that he has been caught from Telangana. Koratkar is accused of insulting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his son Sambhaji Maharaj and threatening historian Indrajit Sawant.

Will be produced in court tomorrow

Kolhapur police left for Kolhapur with Prashant Koratkar. Prashant Koratkar will be brought to Kolhapur after a journey of thirteen hours. After being brought to Kolhapur, Koratkar will be medically examined. Will be produced in court tomorrow morning.

Journalist Prashant Koratkar had applied for anticipatory bail but the court has rejected it. Prashant Koratkar was absconding since February 25 after threatening historian Indrajit Sawant. After absconding from Nagpur, Koratkar was hiding in Chandrapur. When Kolhapur police went to arrest him, he had fled from there as well.

Indrajit Sawant had filed a complaint

According to ABP Majha, Prashant Koratkar has now been arrested from Telangana after a month. Kolhapur police will take him into custody after registering a case there. Indrajit Sawant had filed a complaint against Koratkar at Juna Rajwada police station in Kolhapur. So now Koratkar will be brought to Kolhapur.

Did Prashant Koratkar surrender to the police?

After Prashant Koratkar’s interim bail plea was rejected, he had no option left but to surrender to the police. Prashant Koratkar had first applied for bail in the Kolhapur court. After the application was rejected by the Kolhapur court, he knocked the door of the High Court. But Koratkar made the same mistake in the High Court as he did in Kolhapur.

Koratak also applied for interim bail in the High Court but after the interim bail application was rejected by one court, the High Court also did not accept the bail. This shows that Koratkar has no option.

What is the whole matter?

Journalist Prashant Koratkar had called historian Indrajit Sawant on 24 February 2025 at 12:08 pm. He had spoken objectionable things about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and threatened Sawant. It is learned that he had obtained Indrajit Sawant’s number from a senior police officer working in the Kolhapur Police Force. On February 25, a case was registered at the Rajwada Police Station in Kolhapur on the basis of Indrajit Sawant’s complaint.

Koratkar had tried to apologize by making a video on February 27. On February 28, the Kolhapur District Court granted him anticipatory bail. His bail was granted even before the Kolhapur Police presented its side. After this, the Kolhapur Police appealed to the Bombay High Court. On March 18, the Kolhapur District Court rejected Koratkar’s bail plea.
