Wilmington: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Quad is not against anyone but it is in favor of a rules-based international order and respect for sovereignty. Prime Minister Modi said at the summit on Saturday, “A free, open, inclusive and prosperous Indo-Pacific is our priority.” US President Joe Biden hosted the annual Quad summit in his hometown Wilmington. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida attended the Quad Summit.
PM Modi did not name anyone
Without naming any country, Prime Minister Modi said, “We are not against anyone. We all support a rules-based international order, respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and peaceful resolution of all issues.” The Prime Minister was indirectly pointing towards China. China is involved in the South China Sea and East China Sea regional disputes. China claims sovereignty over the entire South China Sea, while Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Brunei and Taiwan also claim it.
‘Quad will remain’
Prime Minister Modi said, “Our message is clear that Quad will remain, will help, will partner and will complement.” He said, “Together we have taken many positive and inclusive initiatives in areas like health security, critical and emerging technologies, climate change, capacity building.” The Prime Minister said, “The leaders of Quad have gathered at a time when the whole world is surrounded by tensions and conflicts. At such a time, the Quad working together with its democratic values is important for the entire human race.” Prime Minister Modi is on a three-day visit to America. He will address the ‘Summit of the Future’ program at the United Nations General Assembly on 23 September.

At the conference, US President Joe Biden said, ‘We are a democratic country, we know how to work. That is why in the very early days of my becoming President, I met all of you, went to all of your countries, to show that we are making the Quad more effective. Four years later, we four countries are more strategically united than ever before.’
India will host in 2025
PM Modi said at the Quad Summit that we would be happy to hold the Quad Leaders Summit in India in 2025. He said, ‘I am very happy to participate in this Quad Summit in my third term. Our meeting is taking place at a time when the world is surrounded by tensions and conflicts. In such a situation, it is very important for humanity for the Quad to work together on the basis of shared democratic values.’ He said, ‘We are not against anyone. We all want a rules-based international order, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity and peaceful resolution of all issues.’
