Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today inaugurate and dedicate to the nation the world’s longest tunnel built at an altitude of 13000 feet in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. The Prime Minister had laid the foundation stone of this tunnel in February 2019.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the world’s longest tunnel built at an altitude of 13000 feet in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh today i.e. on Saturday. PM Modi will dedicate Sela Tunnel to the nation. This tunnel will provide all-weather connectivity to Tawang. With this, the distance to China border will be reduced by about 10 kilometers. The Prime Minister had laid the foundation stone of this tunnel in February 2019.

Let us tell you that this is the world’s longest two-lane tunnel built at a height of 13000 feet. Latest technology has been used in making it. This tunnel will not be affected by snowfall. This project will not only provide faster and more efficient transportation routes in the region but is of strategic importance for the country.

Army will get edge on LAC
This tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh, adjacent to China, will prove to be a game changer in helping soldiers reach the forward areas of Tawang sector quickly. This tunnel will enhance the capabilities of the Indian Army on LAC. This will ease the movement of Indian army and weapons. Apart from this, along with security, there will also be economic development of this area. It has been built at a cost of about Rs 825 crore.

World’s longest tunnel at an altitude of 13000 feet
Sela Tunnel Project consists of two tunnels. The first 980 meter long tunnel which is a single tube tunnel. The second 1555 meter long tunnel which is Twin Tube Tunnel. This is one of the longest tunnels in the world built at an altitude of more than 13000 feet. It has been constructed using the new Austrian tunneling method and incorporates safety features of the highest standards.

PM Modi will give a gift of Rs 41000 crore to Arunachal
Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several development projects worth more than Rs 41,000 crore in Arunachal Pradesh. PM Modi will dedicate to the nation various important projects including several road projects in Arunachal Pradesh.

PM Modi’s program today

  • PM Modi will visit Kaziranga National Park today i.e. on Saturday at around 5.45 am.
    Will go to Itanagar at 10.30 am and participate in the ‘Developed India Developed North-East’ program there. He will dedicate the Sela Tunnel to the nation here.
    PM Modi will reach Jorhat at 12.15 pm. In Jorhat, PM Modi will unveil the statue of famous Ahom general Lachit Borphukan. After this, we will give a gift of Rs 17,500 crore to Assam.
    At around 3.45 pm, PM Modi will participate in a public program in Siliguri, West Bengal.
    At the same time, at around 7 pm, the Prime Minister will reach Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and will worship at the Vishwanath Temple of Kashi in Varanasi.
