Pune: 7 arrested including former Maharashtra minister’s son-in-law Pranjal Khewalkar in a rave party, legal action being taken against all

A case of a ‘drug party’ came to light in Pune city of Maharashtra in the early hours of Sunday. 7 people were arrested after a police raid. All these accused were produced in a Pune court. The court has sent all the seven accused to police custody till July 29.

Drugs seized from the party

Police said that Pranjal Khewalkar, husband of Rohini Khadse, daughter of former Maharashtra minister Eknath Khadse, is also among those arrested from the party. Drugs, hookah and liquor were seized at the party.

This is how the drug party was busted

Around 3.30 am on Sunday, the crime branch of the police raided and busted a ‘drug party’ in a studio apartment. Requesting the custody of the accused, the prosecution told the court that drugs like cocaine and ganja were seized in the raid.

Two of the 7 also have a criminal record in the past

The prosecution said that the custody of the accused is required to know the details of the source and supply of the banned material. The court also pointed out that two of the 7 arrested have prior criminal records.

Three rooms were booked in the apartment
The prosecution said that the accused had booked three rooms in the said apartment through a hospitality firm for the period between July 25 and July 27. The police need to inquire about it.

Lawyer said, Khevalekar is being framed
Advocate Vijay Thombre, representing Pranjal Khevalkar, denied the allegations levelled against his client and claimed that he has been framed. The lawyer said that the present case appears to be a deliberate attempt to frame his client.

The court sent all the accused to custody till July 29
Thombre told the court that Khevalkar does not consume drugs and is a victim of political malice. After hearing both the sides, the judge sent all the seven accused to police custody till July 29.
