The whole area turned into a fireball
According to the police, the tanker overturned after colliding with a vehicle, causing gas leakage and the entire area turned into a fireball with the explosion. Cabinet Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh, MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa and Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain visited the spot.
The accident road was closed immediately
The seriously injured patients have been referred. Others are being treated at the Civil Hospital. After the incident, the SDRF team has been deployed on the spot. The accident road has been closed immediately. So that any other untoward incident can be avoided.
Orders given to investigate the accident
The Deputy Commissioner said that the officials of Nasrala Depot have been instructed to investigate the traces of gas. There should be no shortage in the treatment of the injured. For this, additional doctors and paramedical staff have been deployed in the hospital.
People thought it was a bomb blast
Eyewitnesses said that as soon as the tanker overturned, there was such an explosion that people thought it was a bomb blast. The fire spread so fast that people in the nearby houses and on the road also got caught in it.
People appealed to stay away from the affected area
The police have started investigating the case. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to find out the reasons of the accident. The administration has appealed to the people to be cautious and stay away from the affected area.
