Punjab Police has removed the farmers who were camping for more than a year from the protest sites located at Shambhu and Khanauri border. Earlier, the police had detained several farmer leaders including farmer leaders Sarwan Singh Pandher and Jagjit Singh Dallewal in Mohali while returning after a meeting with the central delegation. Shambhu and Khinori border opening after 13 months
Preparations to open Shambhu and Khinori border of Punjab have been completed. All the big barricades on the way from Haryana to Punjab have been removed and the cleaning work is in the last stage. After 13 months, the way is looking clear due to the removal of barricades and soon it will be opened for the movement of common people. If sources are to be believed, preparations to open Shambhu and Khinori border of Punjab were made a day before the 7th round of meeting of the farmer with the central government on Wednesday. Although this meeting was to be held at 5 pm, but under a special strategy, its time was changed and the meeting was held at 11 am instead of 5 pm. The farmers could not understand this maze of the government. \As soon as the meeting ended at 4 pm and the farmers reached Mohali in Punjab, the action of the Punjab government started.
‘Till yesterday Arvind Kejriwal was a well-wisher of the farmers’
On the farmers removed from Shambhu and Khanauri border, Union Minister Giriraj Singh said, ‘Till yesterday Arvind Kejriwal was a well-wisher of the farmers. Today Bhagwant Mann has become the enemy of the farmers. The opposition will have to answer who is the real well-wisher of the farmers.’
‘Mann government betrayed the farmers’
A political battle has erupted over the action of Punjab Police on the farmers’ movement. Congress has surrounded the Mann government of Punjab. Congress says that the Mann government has betrayed the farmers and stabbed them in the back.
Barbed wires are being removed from Shambhu border
The work of removing barricades from Shambhu border is going on. Barricades are being removed with the help of JCB. The barbed wires that were installed on the road are also being removed. It is believed that as soon as the barricades are removed, the Shambhu border will be completely opened for traffic.
Harpal Singh Cheema justified the action
Farmer leader Gurmanet Singh Mangat said that along with Pandher and Dallewal, Abhimanyu Kohad, Kaka Singh Kotra and Manjit Singh Rai have been detained. Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema justified the removal of farmers from the protest sites, saying that the long closure of both the highways, which are like lifelines for the state, has badly affected industry and business.
Rakesh Tikait condemned the Punjab government
Farmer leader and national spokesperson of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) Rakesh Tikait has condemned the action of the Punjab government. Tikait posted on X, “In the ongoing agitation on the border of Punjab, on one hand the government is negotiating with the farmer organizations and on the other hand it is arresting them. We strongly condemn the action of the Punjab government and all the farmer organizations are ready for every struggle.”
This is bad – TMC MP Saugata Roy
On the detention of farmer leaders in Punjab, TMC MP Saugata Roy said, “I oppose and criticize the arrest of farmer leaders. Yesterday there was a three-hour discussion and after that forcibly removing the farmers and arresting the farmer leaders deserves criticism. This is bad.”
AAP government betrayed – Amarinder Singh Raja Vading
Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Vading also condemned the incident. He posted on the social media platform ‘X’, “Both the BJP government at the Center and the ‘AAP’ government in Punjab have betrayed the farmers and stabbed them in the back.
This action is cowardly- Congress
Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa condemned the action of Punjab Police against the leaders of farmers’ organizations and called it a “cowardly act” of the state government.

Farmer leader Satnam Singh Pannu said- “We will protest against the “atrocities” being committed on farmers.”
Jagjit Singh Dallewal transferred from PIMS
Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has been transferred from Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Jalandhar. Late last evening, Punjab Police removed farmers from Punjab-Haryana Khanauri border and Shambhu border, where they were sitting on dharna over their various demands.
Punjab’s economy was being harmed – Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema
On the protesting farmers being removed from Shambhu and Khanauri borders, Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said- “The roads have been opened. This protest of farmers was harming the economy of Punjab. Aam Aadmi Party stands with the farmers protesting against the central government and requests them not to block the highways, which are the lifeline for the state. They (farmer leaders Jagjit Dallewal and Sarwan Singh Pandher) have been taken into preventive custody.”
BJP and AAP are anti-farmers – Congress MP Pramod Tiwari
Congress MP Pramod Tiwari said, “Last night when the farmers were fast asleep, 3000-4000 armed policemen used force to remove them (from Haryana-Punjab Shambhu border) and did not even spare the elderly Dallewal who was on a hunger strike. Both BJP and AAP are anti-farmer… This was a suicidal step for both of them because now they will drown in Punjab.”
Haryana also started removing barricades
After the protesting farmers were removed from the Shambhu border, Haryana security personnel on Thursday morning started removing the cement barricades that were put up to prevent Punjab farmers from going to Delhi. Concrete barriers are being removed with the help of JCB machines from the Shambhu-Ambala road which has been closed for about a year.
