Punjab: Punjab Police has arrested a member of a terrorist module, who was allegedly taking instructions from a handler sitting in Pakistan. Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused was assigned the task of carrying out targeted killings to create fear and unrest in Jammu and Kashmir.

Gaurav Yadav told in the post that a member of the terrorist module has been arrested and Chinese pistol and cartridges have been found from him. According to a statement by Punjab Police, the arrested accused has been identified as Lovepreet Singh alias Picho of Udho Nangal village, Amritsar. According to the statement, the police team also recovered a .30 bore automatic Chinese pistol, a magazine and four cartridges from his possession.
The statement quoted the DGP as saying that after receiving intelligence, ‘Counter Intelligence’, Jalandhar set up a blockade in Rama Mandi area and arrested the accused after an automatic pistol was recovered. Jalandhar Senior Superintendent of Police (Counter Intelligence) Navjot Singh Mahal said that the accused received money in his bank account via Dubai and purchased pistols and cartridges from Samba in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that a case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act at the State Special Operation Cell police station in Amritsar on Monday and further investigation is underway.
