Punjab: Ruckus in Congress meeting, supporters of OP Soni and Gurjit Aujla clashed with each other, in-charge Devendra Yadav said, ‘Indiscipline will not be tolerated’

Punjab: Congress’s Punjab unit in-charge Devendra Yadav said on Monday that the party will not tolerate any kind of indiscipline. He told the workers that if any senior leader indulges in indiscipline then they should raise their voice.

Yadav, Punjab in-charge of All India Congress Committee (AICC), made these comments while addressing workers and Congress leaders of Amritsar Lok Sabha constituency. However, Navjot Singh Sidhu did not attend the meeting amid demands from a section of the party for disciplinary action against him for holding rallies alone.

‘Indiscipline will not be tolerated in the party’
Devendra Yadav, Congress’ Punjab unit chief Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Pratap Singh Bajwa are holding meetings at the parliamentary level to talk to district and divisional presidents and district committee members in view of the upcoming general elections. During the meeting held in Amritsar on Monday, Devendra Yadav said that indiscipline will not be tolerated in the party. He also told the party workers that if any senior leader indulges in indiscipline then they should not tolerate it.

Mallikarjun Kharge will be on Punjab tour on 11th February
There was uproar in the meeting when supporters of senior party leader OP Soni from Amritsar and supporters of Amritsar MP Gurjit Aujla raised slogans against each other. Supporters of former MLA Soni are demanding that he be fielded from Amritsar Lok Sabha seat.

At the same time, Aujla’s supporters are demanding to make him a candidate again. Raja Vading tried to pacify both the groups. He said Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge would visit Punjab on February 11 and hold a meeting with party workers, mandal presidents and others in Samrala.
