On Saturday, farmers and youth organizations had announced to hold a demonstration and protest rally in front of the CM residence in Sangrur, Punjab, in favor of YouTube blogger Bhana Sidhu. During this period, many big politicians, farmers and youth leaders of Punjab had also joined the protest and announced to siege the CM residence. Due to which Punjab Police put big leaders and farmer leaders under house arrest in many cities of Punjab. Leaders and workers of farmers and youth organizations who reached Sangrur were also taken into custody when they were going to protest in front of the CM residence.
Congress leader and former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi also tried to go to Sangrur, Punjab to join the demonstration and rally outside the CM House. Charanjit Channi was going to participate in the rally in favor of Bhana Sidhu. Meanwhile, the police stopped his convoy after which he was placed under house arrest.
Actually, farmers organizations and politicians are alleging that Bhana Sidhu had created some blogs against the government. Due to which this action is being taken against them. Whereas according to the action of Punjab Police, Kaka Sidhu alias Bhana Sidhu, a close aide of famous blogger and late Sidhu Moosewala, was first arrested on the complaint of a female travel agent in a case of extortion.
Police arrested on the basis of new complaint
Later, when Bhana Sidhu got bail, a new complaint was registered against him in Patiala. A woman filed a case of chain snatching against Bhana Sidhu, a resident of Sangrur. In this case, an FIR was registered against Bhana Sidhu in the Sadar police station of Patiala under Section 379-B and the police arrested Bhana Sidhu and took him on remand for 2 days.
Bhagwant Mann government on target of opponents
Now there is a lot of uproar in Punjab regarding the arrest of Bhana Sidhu. Farmer organizations as well as followers and leaders of opposition parties are alleging that Bhana Sidhu has spoken true things against the government in his blog and that is why the police has registered a fake case against him and arrested him.
The demonstration was to be held outside CM House
Regarding this matter, farmers organizations and many other organizations had announced to hold a demonstration and protest rally outside the residence of Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann in Sangrur today. Former CM Charanjit Singh Channi was also going to show his support in the same program, but he was stopped by the police and put under house arrest. During this time, Charanjit Singh Channi also posted a video of himself on his Facebook page.
