Purulia MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato wrote a letter to the Nobel Committee, referring to the violence against minorities in Bangladesh, demanding withdrawal of Nobel Prize from Muhammad Yunus

Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato, BJP MP from Purulia, West Bengal, has written a letter to the Nobel Committee regarding the atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh and appealed to reconsider the Nobel Peace Prize to Mohammad Yunus. He wrote that Hindus and minorities in Bangladesh are victims of violence and persecution. Despite seeing everything, the head of the interim government of Bangladesh and Nobel Prize-winning economist Mohammad Yunus has practically turned a blind eye.
In a letter to the Nobel Committee, Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato wrote, ‘It is very sad that the name of the Nobel Peace Prize winner is being associated with violence and injustice today. Under the leadership of Nobel Prize winner Mohammad Yunus, extreme violence and attacks are being carried out on Hindus and minorities in Bangladesh. “
He wrote that Muhammad Yunus once played the role of a social reformer but now he has got the title of ‘Hindu killer’. Although he is praised worldwide for microfinance, today he does not see the heinous crimes being committed against the people of the country. Unspeakable crimes are being committed against Hindus.

He also alleged interference in religious freedom, obstruction of Hindu festivals like Durga Puja. I write with anguish as Hindus in Bangladesh face unspeakable horrors under Muhammad Yunuss leadership—mass killings, temple destruction & persecution. Nobel Committee, how can a ‘peace laureate’ allow this? Act now to condemn these atrocities & uphold the Prize’s integrity. pic.twitter.com/ri4tc4bnx1

Demand to withdraw Nobel Prize from Mohammad Yunus
On this day, Speaker of Bengal Assembly Biman Banerjee also questioned the justification of Yunus’ Nobel Prize in view of the Bangladesh incident. His statement was, “The person who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace has failed to maintain peace and order in his own country.” Is he capable of doing those things? He is giving absurd statements”
Speaker’s statement, “I am not among those who give an opinion on whether the Nobel Prize will be taken away or not. But personally I feel that the question is why such a person was given the Nobel after this incident in Bangladesh. This cannot be accepted”.
He expressed regret and said, “The people of West Bengal loved the people of West Bengal very much. I have been there myself. My family was there. Some fundamentalists are deliberately creating this terror. This must be opposed. Everyone should protest together.”
