Political excitement has increased in Bihar regarding the assembly elections to be held later this year. Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi is taking out ‘Voter Rights Yatra’ in the state. Today is the 7th day of this Yatra. During his Yatra, Rahul is continuously attacking the government and the Election Commission. On Saturday (23 August), Rahul met Makhana farmers in Kodha assembly constituency of Katihar and got to know their problems.

During this, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also got down in the pond with the farmers and took out Makhana. During this, he also inquired about the entire process of preparation of Makhana from the farmers and also talked about the problems of the farmers. Bihar Congress President Rajesh Ram was also present with Rahul on this occasion.

Rahul Gandhi spoke to farmers

Rahul Gandhi has shared a post on social media, in which he said, ‘Bihar grows 90% of the world’s makhana, but the farmers and laborers who work hard day and night in the sun do not earn even 1% of the profit. Today, I met these farmers in their fields and got to know their ordeal.

‘Vote thief government does not care about workers’

The leader further said that Makhana is sold for Rs 1000-2000 per kg in big cities, but these hard workers, the foundation of the entire industry, get a nominal price. He said, ‘Who are these farmers-labourers? Extremely backward, Dalit-Bahujan. The entire hard work is of these 99% Bahujans and the benefit goes to only 1% middlemen. Attacking the government, Rahul Gandhi said that the vote thief government neither respects nor cares for these workers – neither gives income, nor justice. He also said that the right to vote and the right to skill are two sides of the same coin – and we will not let them lose either.

The yatra will conclude in Patna on September 1.

Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav have so far covered 8 districts in Bihar under the Voter Rights Yatra. This yatra has completed 6 days of its journey. The Voter Rights Yatra started from Sasaram in Bihar on August 17. This 16-day journey will pass through about 20 districts and cover a distance of 1,300 km. The yatra will conclude with a big rally in Patna on September 1.
