Rahul Gandhi: While advising the spokespersons, Rahul Gandhi further said that they should present their side aggressively in TV debates, we should not be defensive, do not fall into the trap of BJP, be aggressive on your issue

Congress Training Session: To corner the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress held a training session for all its spokespersons and media panelists from across the country in Delhi on Friday, May 23. Around 142 spokespersons and media panelists from across the country attended this training session. This training was organised at the new office of Congress, Indira Bhawan in Delhi. During this, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi also attended this training session and addressed everyone.

According to information received from sources, during this time Rahul Gandhi advised all the spokespersons and media panelists on how to present the party’s point of view on every issue on TV and other platforms. Rahul Gandhi said in this meeting that we should not fall into the trap of BJP, we have to go and bat on BJP’s pitch. Rahul said that BJP is a factless party. We have facts on every issue, you should debate with us on that basis.

Rahul Gandhi’s advice to Congress leaders regarding TV debate

While advising the spokespersons, Rahul Gandhi further said that in TV debates, present your side aggressively, we should not be defensive. We have to put our points prominently. Because you are competing with low-level people, you should not stoop to that level and debate. Rahul further said that most of the people on TV speak the same language, you have to face them alone. Therefore, you have to present the facts bravely. If you are not given a chance to speak, then leave the debate after presenting your side aggressively.

Mallikarjun Kharge’s video message

During this meeting, the video message of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge was also presented in front of everyone. In his video message, Kharge said that this workshop is not just a program, it is a continuation of our thoughts and struggle. Today, when the country is talking about caste justice, it is the responsibility of the Congress party to give direction to this discussion, take it from slogan to policy and make ‘jitna aabadi utna haq’ not just a slogan but a national resolution.

What did Mallikarjun Kharge say on caste census

Kharge said that we all know that the issue of caste census is not new. The Congress party has raised it continuously, in our manifestos, in Parliament, on the streets and on every platform where there should be talk of social justice. I myself had written a letter to the Prime Minister in April 2023 and reiterated the demand that caste census should be started immediately. In that letter, I had clearly said that till we do not have the correct data, no government can claim that it is providing justice to everyone.

He further said in his message that we have to ask what is the participation of OBC, Dalit and tribal communities in the power structures of the country? Do they have representation in proportion to their population in the media, bureaucracy, judiciary, corporate sector and higher education institutions? If not, what is the reason for this? And what is the solution?

Kharge said that the solution is to bring out the truth, make the data public and then rebuild the policies. This is why we do not consider caste census as just a data exercise, but it is a moral responsibility of Indian democracy.

Talking about reservation in educational institutions

Congress President Kharge said that we also have to clearly demand that Article 15 (5) of the Constitution be implemented immediately, so that OBC, Dalit and tribal students get reservation in private educational institutions. Today, when a large part of education has become concentrated in the private sector, then depriving these communities of that access is a form of exploitation. Congress believes that no society can be equal without equal opportunity in education.

He further said that we also have to ensure that the limit of 50% reservation is now reconsidered in the light of new data. When social realities have changed and the figures are presenting a new picture, then our policies should also change accordingly. The current limit of reservation should be seen with a balance of both figures and justice, so that OBC, Dalit and tribal communities can get their real rights.

Example of Telangana caste survey given

Kharge said that the caste survey conducted in Telangana presented a model in which society, experts and government all participated. We want the central government to also adopt a similar public-oriented and transparent model. We are ready to cooperate in this process. All of you are the spokespersons of our party, the voice of our thoughts. Today, when the country is becoming aware of the caste census, then it is our responsibility to take this subject to the public with facts, with sensitivity, and without fear. This is not only a fight for social justice, but also a fight to protect the soul of the Constitution.
