Raipur: Chhattisgarh Police has arrested a constable in Raipur on Friday, September 6. It is alleged that the constable raped a 22-year-old woman. The accused constable was posted at the State Police Academy. According to the police, the 26-year-old constable was arrested on the basis of the victim’s complaint and has been charged under the relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code. After the arrest, the police is now engaged in interrogating the accused constable.

The victim’s complaint states that the constable raped her in his car on the night of September 4 and 5 and later at his residence. After the incident, the woman lodged a complaint on Thursday, following which the constable was arrested. Giving more information, an official said, “The constable is posted at the State Police Academy in Chandkhuri near Raipur. After the woman lodged a complaint, he was arrested under various provisions of the Indian Justice Code, including rape and criminal charges.”
Mentally ill raped by relatives
In another incident, a mentally ill woman was raped by three of her relatives in Shakti district. An official gave this information on Wednesday. The official said that the incident took place in a village in the Dabra police station area on Monday and the accused were arrested after a complaint was lodged about the incident on Tuesday. The official said that the accused, who were drunk, took the woman to a deserted house and allegedly raped her. Some children playing outside the house sensed some suspicious activity inside and informed the villagers about it.
All three accused arrested
He said that two accused fled from the spot, while the third was caught by the locals and beaten up. He said that after the villagers informed about this, the police traced two other accused and a police team was immediately sent to the village and all three accused were arrested. He said that according to the villagers, the accused persons are relatives of the rape victim and two of them are allegedly involved in the illegal sale of country liquor. A case has been registered under the Indian Penal Code (BNS) and further investigation is underway, the official said.
